Men after the Man(Mohan)

Well ....I am back!!!. And again with some heavy duty stuff..Sorry folks. This is the way I am. But promise you that I will bring some variety in my next post. So Let me start..

At the moment people are just trying to find illogical reasons to blame our modest prime minister.Everybody seems to be after him. Here I am talking about their fresh attack on him because of the muslim headcount process initiated by him in the army. It was just a simple harmless process, but people had turned it into a communal issue. And one particular political party shouting like hell is doing the same kind of consensus for the police in one of its ruled states.!!

Some Muslim leaders also seized the opportunity to say that the army should contain the same ratio of muslims as the country has. what the ....!! Ofcourse religion should be the last criteria for the selection process in indian army and since the illiteration is way more in muslims its very obvious that their number would be smaller than their counterparts in other communities.

Lets discuss some interesting logic given by the people.

Most people think that it can have a harmful effect on the secular nature of our armed forces. How?? Don't governments keep doing it for other purposes also ???( not only in india but even in developed countries !!). Remember the results of the "census of india" which takes place every decade?? When it showed the mismatch between the population growth of muslims with that of other communities.Nobody questioned the motive..at that time wasn't it harmful for the secular nature of this country?? All just started criticizing the muslim community for backwardness..(not only theirs but also the country's ..)

you may argue that case of armed forces are different. I disagree.. if something is not good for armed forces, it is equally bad for the country too.

One leading newspaper published an article saying that on the same logic there can be a headcount statewise also, then district wise and hence there is no end of it.
I put my case. which state do i belong to?? By origin i am a Rajasthani.My parents live in Bihar at the moment and i m living in West bengal for the last 5 years and most probably i would live my rest of life in Karnataka or Maharashtra or dont know where. Does it make any sense to do the counting areawise?? Well.. if someone changes his religion as frequently i changed the place.. then its different matter altogether.

There is no end to this discussion.Every other newspaper coloumnist is making the matter worse by discussing it (including me!!!!).Thanx to the limited number of people who read my blog..I can say i am not equally responsible for the bad work :P.

One question still remains unanswered..Why do we need such consensus?? I leave it to you guys to think about it.. isn't it very obvious???

The risk, Khabru, is that these figures might be used to for petty politics, if made public. With Congress, history blows the siren to the media.

Unlike western democratic countries, in Indian democracy, groups are based on ethnic and other identities. Therefore group rights become more important than individual rights. Hence, your comparison of India with the western countries is unsuitable. Also, since group rights are so important, it makes sense why a census like this which tries finding out the percentage of a minority group is so inflammatory news.

saurabh... this one was purely heavy stuff [newspaper material]. I missed ur naration part which was there in the last post.

I dont get the logic of doing the headcount in army [muslim] and i find the antilogic of it equally stupid. Anyway as said it is heavy stuff.

I just observed two things in this blog.
ur writing flow...
and this news disturbed u at certain level.

ps for me this news was totally a new :P

@aman
your point is valid.But i feel that it is also necessary and we should believe in our prime minister.

@rashmi
u mean in western democracies groups are not based on ethnic identities?? like black,asians,pakiz,indians..

and nobody questions the motive of the census..every1 discusses about the trends these data show and its impact.

@bhav
thnx for ur honest comments..truly appericiate it.. hopefully i will keep getting your honest remarks..

There are some basic differences between western esp., european democracies and Indian democracies. and i'll list them to u on Gtalk but i never questioned the motive...it is the after effects of these censuses that cause so much of problem. Please, read properly. And by the way, get all those idealistic thoughts out of your mind once and think about the situation practically. What do u think will those political parties whose sole basis of survival is vote-bank politics, will do after the census is out?? Will they sit quietly and think about bettering the future of this country and its people? Think again. It is very nice to say that a census like this should not cause much furore while sitting in the comforts of your homes or hostels(if it can be called a comfort), but the practical world is not the same that we find inside our institutions.

minority rights, minority oppression and the over hyping of such things will continue in India for atleast ten more years and there is nothing we can do to stop these things. Its all bloody politics and the greed of power. All these hypocritic politicians will keep on playing the same cards over and over again just to gain the last percentage point of the vote.

These kinds of headcounts cannot be ever good for the country, they will always promote animosity and cause problems. We might never know why the PM ordered this, might be a security issue, but if these things are used for political reasons, then god save India.

Jai Hind!

You post in a way that makes slugs and other invertebrates look like Nobel Prize winners. Dullard, do yourself and everyone else a favor: disconnect your computer from the Internet.

I notice that you never let an idea interrupt the flow of your posts. If ignorance were a disability, you'd get the full pension. You've got a big hole in your head, now shut it. When you are at a loss for words, your loss is our gain. As Ellen Glasgow once remarked: "He knows so little and knows it so fluently."

When god was handing out personalities, you must have been holding the door. You're so boring, even a boomerang wouldn't come back to you. I bet you thought it was just coincidence that your parents had the same surnames before they married? Maybe you wouldn't be such a Jerk-In-The-Box if your brain cells weren't on the Endangered Species list; if your weren't so fat that when you run, you make the CD player skip at the radio station, or if you didn't have a face like a boiled Octopus. Nah, of course you would.

Finally, take a look at this map. See this little tiny island, way out in the Pacific Ocean? That's where the people who care live.
